Yet another year in my home garden. This year we struggled again with insects and a long drought. Despite this we still managed to get a nice little haul. Potatoes were smaller than usual but still enough to last us the winter. We did have more fruit this year than usual with the blueberry bushes doing really well and a nice bowl of grapes. Ford Mustang had a misfire on cylinder number 1. After reading engine codes and checking compression, spark plugs and wires were tested. Finally a spark plug was replaced as well as the ignition coil pack. In the end the coil pack turned out to be the problem. Here are the steps taken in order: Step 1: Check for engine codes Step 2: Check for spark Step 3: Check spark plug Step 4: Check compression Step 5: Replace spark plug Step 6: Test ignition coil pack Step 7: Test spark plug wire Step 8: Replace ignition coil pack These are steps that can be taken to troubleshoot a misfiring vehicle, or one that is running rough, stalling or won't start.

I had a little fun one afternoon when I put a M18 Lithium battery into a kids ride-on toy. The power wheels style four-wheeler comes with a 12 volt battery and works much better with the 18 volt Milwaukee battery. This was just a quick, fun project and no real time was spent trying to upgrade the electrical system properly. In the end I used a jumper wire to bypass the thermal overload breaker so it could run at a higher amperage. If there is enough interest I may look again at adding more power, larger capacity wires and possibly upgraded motors to really make it move.

Replacing my 12000btu Daikin mini split with an 18000btu Senville unit. The new heat pump will be much more efficient and should be able to heat at lower temperatures than the old Daikin did, which is important with the cold Canadian winters. The extra air conditioning capacity will be nice on hot summer days as well. I bought this unit on Amazon and it is the second mini split I've installed on my own. The process is pretty easy for anyone with a little mechanical background, and experience with flared copper fittings helps. A few specialized tools are required such as a vacuum pump and air conditioning gauges but these are also available for a decent price on amazon.
